There's ice all over it. It's not that bad, but I just wanted to know if there's a better way to defrost the car other than using the windshield defroster and a de-icer.

Meanwhile, I'm sitting on my back patio in shorts, a golf polo, and no shoes.

Cheers.

I park outside but when I need to thaw my car out and either parent is at work, I park in the garage for a few hours then let it out. Doesn't work out in the mornings when I have work/school.

If you would stop locking yourself out, you wouldn't have to sleep on the porch.

Thrown boiling water on your windshield. Oh, what the hell, pour boiling water on all the glass. That will get rid of the visibility problem for sure .

To reduce misting on the inside of the window thoroughly clean the glass with a glass cleaner and then a small amount of panel wipe or isopropyl alcohol (a dehumidifier pad on the dashboard overnight will help reduce the amount of moisture in the vehicle).

For the exterior, again thoroughly clean the glass with a glass cleaner then follow it up with a sealant such as Rain-X, Gtechniq G5, or similar even a car body sealant such as CarPro Reload will create a surface moisture isn't attracted to.

Moisture in the most part needs dirt or grease to condense onto. So by thoroughly cleaning the surface and creating a water repelling barrier it will work wonders.

Ideally you want a hydrophobic coating on the outside and a hydrophilic coating on the inside but I've yet to come across a decent no hassle hydrophilic coating for the inside of the glass so until I do, it's best to just keep it as clean as possible.

Also, if the inside of the windscreen or any glass has mist or condensation on it, do not wipe it off with a cloth unless you are going to properly clean the glass again later, it's best to just use your windscreen demisters as you'll just create a smeary haze which will dazzle you in driving in the evening and a car comes the other way with their headlights on.

2 buckets of hot water poured onto roof , then just let it run down over the glass.

easy , quick , i do it every time my screens freeze over , never had 1 crack yet in 23 years.
